   The world is a hard place to survive. Falling in love. Broken hearts. Standing up for what you believe. Arachnids and an entire week dedicated to sharks. Earthquakes and economic meltdowns. Nine dollar beer nights at your favorite pub, and fashion statements that should have died years ago returning from the grave. It’s not easy to be alive through all this, let alone survive it as a gentleman. We must remain intact and stand out amongst the rest. No matter how difficult it gets out there. And the best part is, you can still look cool while doing it.

2.  Throwing up is never cool unless you’re with the band.
3.  Hang out with people cooler than you. This makes you cool by association.
4.  Lose the baggy clothes unless you make millions performing gangster rap.
5.  A gentleman never publicly worries, complains, or comments about money. A gentleman who is cool never hesitates to pick up a tab or loan to a friend in need. Remember, if you’re making more than 2 dollars a day, you’re considered in the top 3% of the richest people on the planet.   Would you like some perspective with your coffee this morning?

Crazy ass weekend, (MUY LOCA)...

It all started off by me and my parents flying in to Cabo San Lucas on Christmas Eve, Had tons of fun with my family that I haven't seen in a while. I needed that. This trip reassured me how successful I can be... and nothing is better then that, even though the last few months haven't been the best I've had... for many reasons. Christmas I got wasted at my uncles club in downtown Cabo, don't remember much other then i kept ordering Jack Daniels, Lime, and Coke. Met this 23 year old, and lost all my shit. New phone, new wallet, all my money, my cards, my ID's... luckily i have a spare CA state ID... or else i would still be in Mexico... Went to some amazing wineries in Baja, got some wine for special people, had the most amazing sea food this weekend, I'm really gonna miss it.

Mr. West's fantasies might not appeal to the mainstream culture, but for those who believe, he has brought the L.O.V.E back into music. Kanye West has come back into the spotlight from a two-year break with his groundbreaking new album, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”. He proves to the media no matter how many young girls hearts he breaks, he will always come back stronger. Kanye West's new album shows us how strong of an artist he is lyrically as a director /producer and his artistic vision.

“Can we get much higher?” For those people who have followed him through his best and his worst, we all know Mr. West is here to stay. He strikes back with a new style of music, which I call Hip-Hop couture. This time around Kanye makes a smart choice and goes back to his classic flow, but with a twist: a lot darker imagery, hard-hitting 808 drums, and a different type of auto-tune. While some people would disagree and think his flow has fallen off, his rhymes are stronger than ever. Kanye fixates on a handful of different concepts, those of which include- religion, fame, women, drugs and race. Personally, the best line in the record is: “Have you lost your mind?/Tell me where you think we’ve crossed the line/No more drugs for me/Pussy and religion is all I need.” Kanye West's flow can be comparable to that of a blue-collar man rapping with anger, delivering punch lines like, “I treat the cash the way the government treats AIDS/I won’t be satisfied ‘til all my n****** get it, get it?” This 68-minute album has a great story in which he has made a short film noir for, in which he directed himself.

Kanye West decided to implement more sampling in his new album, rather than his last- 808's And Heartbreaks. When he released "Runaway" featuring Pusha T, at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, he did it live and it was one of my favorite performances anybody has ever done at an award show. Def Jam Record Label is said to have spent $3 million dollars, with a Celebrity A-List including Kid Cudi, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Raekwon, Mos Def, Swizz Beatz, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, S-1, Mike Dean, Pusha T and many more. This is said to be the most expensive album in the recessive era. He has kept his style of creating songs by sampling old school songs from the 40’s and 50’s, all while giving a completely different meaning to the song, adding more hip and fresh style. One of his close friends, Noah Callahan-Beve (Editor-In-Chief of Complex Magazine) explains that Kanye is a dedicated worker, “When he hits a creative wall... he heads to another studio room to make progress on another song, During my five days in Hawaii, Kanye never slept at his house, or even in a bed. He would, power-nap in a studio chair or couch here and there in 90-minute intervals, working through the night. Engineers remained behind the boards 24 hours a day.”

The Phoenix that he so talks about is a representation of himself, and his dreams. According to model Selita Ebanks, who co-stars in his 35-min short film, the moral is, "the world doesn't accept, or they try to change, what is different, instead of trying to understand it." Kanye West is an artist who is dying to express his emotions, and he does so with very hard work, if he’s not making beats, producing half of the songs on the radio, directing a movie, he’s in Paris designing his line for Louis Vuitton. He seems to have a clear understanding on the concept he wants to put out. Kanye’s new album was banned at many department stores, such as Wal-Mart, due to the album cover. Regardless, Mr. West loves the attention and seems to come out stronger when situations like these happen. As an artist myself, I don’t feel that it’s right to filter an artistic decision, such as nudity. But then again, he does a great job at proving his point even when the world doesn't accept.

Kanye West has become a classic to my generation. He expresses the struggles in this country with anger and even humor, which this generation is full of. He teaches us that taking wild risks are good, and being artistic is even more in style then ever. Popular magazines such as Rolling Stone, GQ, Alternative press, and many more have given him 5 out of 5 stars on his new album, “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”, shows us how strong of an artist Kanye West is, lyrically as a director and producer, and even his artistic vision.
